Gold Dajaluh presents its weekly brief for Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Did gold go down? Yes, worldwide. Gold is about 5.7% cheaper in dollars than a month ago.
Then why are shop prices higher? Because on Wednesday the government changed the official dollar rate from 1,310 to 1,500 dinars, and the market dollar rose to about 167,000 per $100. Gold is priced in dollars, so when the dinar weakens, gold costs more dinars.
Example, one mithqal of 21K (5 grams), before making charges:
- On September 30: about $609, which was roughly 960,000 dinars.
- Today: about $602, roughly 1,007,000 dinars at the market rate.
The dollar price fell by about $7, but the dinar price rose by about 47,000.
What this teaches us: Gold keeps its value in dollars. If you already own gold, its dinar value went up this week.
Should I buy now? If you need gold for a wedding, buy what you need and agree the price before paying. Ask for the weight, karat and making charge on your receipt.
The honest caution: The exchange rate is still moving. Prices may change daily. Never borrow to buy gold.
Gold Dajaluh — honest gold, honest weight.
