Gold Dajaluh presents its customer guide for Monday, 12 October 2026.
The key news: Gold prices in Iraq are high this month. Global gold is near $4,198 an ounce, and the dollar trades near 1,633 dinars in the Baghdad market. Last Wednesday, 7 October, 21K Gulf gold on Al-Nahr Street sold at about 978,000 dinars per mithqal, and 21K Iraqi gold at about 948,000.
What it means for you:
Selling price is what you pay when you buy. Buying price is what the shop pays you when you sell. The difference covers the shop’s costs.
Gulf (and Turkish or European) 21K usually costs more than Iraqi 21K because of finish and import costs.
Making charges (the craft fee) are added on top of the gold price.
Example: On 7 October, the gap between Gulf and Iraqi 21K was about 30,000 dinars per mithqal. On a 4-mithqal bracelet, that is about 120,000 dinars.
Our advice: Ask for the gold price and the making charge separately. Ask for a receipt with the weight and karat. Keep it for when you sell.
The honest caution: Prices change every day with the dollar and global gold. The figures above are from 7 October and are for guidance only.
