Baghdad, 23 October 2026. Gold is cheaper in dollars this week. Here is what that means in simple terms.

The key news: world gold is near $4,016 an ounce, down about 3.5% this week. The main reason is higher oil prices, which make the US central bank more likely to keep interest rates high.

What it means for Gold Dajaluh customers: the price of a mithqal (5 grams) has eased in dollars. But because the dollar is expensive in Baghdad, the price in dinars has not fallen as much.

Example (metal value only, before making charges): one mithqal of 21K gold is about $565 today, or about 957,500 dinars at the Baghdad market rate of about 1,695 dinars per dollar. One mithqal of 18K is about $484, or about 820,800 dinars.

Advice for customers: always ask for the price of the gold and the making charge separately. Ask which karat the piece is and check the stamp. Keep your receipt, because it helps when you sell or exchange later.

The honest caution: gold prices go up and down every day, and nobody can promise where they go next. Buy what you need and can afford, and never borrow money to buy gold.
