Monday, 19 October 2026 — many customers are asking why gold rose again.
The key news: On Sunday, Gulf 21K gold sold for 990,000 dinars a mithqal in Baghdad, 14,000 dinars more than Saturday. Iraqi 21K sold for 960,000.
Reason one — world gold: Gold went up a little in world markets. It is near $4,176 an ounce today.
Reason two — the dollar: Gold is priced in dollars. In Baghdad, $100 cost 168,500 dinars on Sunday, higher than the day before. When the dollar costs more dinars, gold costs more dinars too.
Example: A 2-mithqal Gulf 21K ring costs about 1,980,000 dinars at 990,000 a mithqal. That is about $1,175 at the Baghdad market rate of 168,500 dinars per $100. Workmanship is extra and differs by shop.
Advice for customers: Ask the shop for the mithqal price and the workmanship separately. Check the karat stamp and keep your receipt.
The honest caution: No one can say if gold will be higher or lower next week. Buy only with money you do not need soon, and never borrow to buy gold.
Gold Dajaluh — clear prices, honest gold.
