Gold Dajaluh presents the daily gold bulletin for Friday August 21, 2026. Gold has leapt to around $4,580 per ounce — touching $4,605 today, its highest since early June — capping an extraordinary week. Here are the news, the numbers, and what comes next, clear and complete.

Today’s prices:

24K: ~$147.25/gram | 22K: ~$135.00/gram | 21K: ~$128.85/gram | 18K: ~$110.45/gram

Change from Monday: up about $175 per ounce (~$5.65 per gram for 24K). Third weekly gain in a row.

The main news: On Wednesday, the American Treasury announced it will at least double its purchases of its own long-term bonds to keep borrowing costs down. This pushed bond yields and the dollar sharply lower — and gold, which shines brightest when yields and the dollar fall, jumped more than 4% in a single day, its biggest rise since February, crossing $4,500 for the first time since early June. Today the rise continues on strong safe-haven demand, with currency and bond markets unsettled and oil climbing while the Strait of Hormuz remains closed.

Worth noting: The American central bank’s meeting notes, released the same day, showed several officials wanted to raise rates — yet gold rose anyway. The market judged that a Treasury holding down long-term yields matters more than talk of rate rises.

The numbers that matter:

Gold versus January’s record ($5,597): now only about 18% below — a 50-gram necklace carries roughly $1,635 less gold value than at the peak, versus $2,460 three weeks ago. The discount is closing quickly.

Gold versus one year ago: up about 36%.

Gold over the past month: up 11.1%.

Silver: surging near $66–68.

What comes next: The Fed chair appears at the Jackson Hole gathering — the week’s final major signal. A strict tone could briefly dip prices toward $4,500–$4,470; a calm one could extend the rise toward $4,650. Analysts’ year-end maps of $4,500 to $4,900 have been reached months early, and talk of $5,000 is returning.

For buyers today: The rise is fast, and short pullbacks are possible after such a week. Those with near occasions should not delay further — this month has punished waiting repeatedly. Those who can wait may watch $4,500–$4,470 for any dip.
