Gold Dajaluh presents the daily gold bulletin for Thursday August 13, 2026. Gold trades near $4,400 per ounce, holding at its highest levels in two months. Here are today’s news, prices, and what to watch — clear and complete.

Today’s prices:

24K: ~$141.45/gram | 22K: ~$129.65/gram | 21K: ~$123.75/gram | 18K: ~$106.10/gram

Change from Monday: up about $70 per ounce (~$2.25 per gram for 24K).

The main news: American inflation for July, released Wednesday, cooled to 3.4% from 3.5% — exactly as forecast. Combined with last week’s report showing America lost 23,000 jobs in July, markets now see only about a 40% chance of a September interest rate rise, down from two-thirds two weeks ago. Lower rate expectations lift gold, and it gained 1% on the day, closing above $4,400 and crossing its 100-day average for the first time since April — a positive technical signal.

The regional news: The Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed. Iran has ruled out direct talks with Washington, and its officials say the strait will not reopen until American conditions change. Only 14 ships crossed on Tuesday, and attacks on shipping were reported. Oil remains high near $89 per barrel, though it eased about 1% today. The closed strait keeps oil — and gold’s protective demand — elevated together.

The numbers that matter:

Gold versus January’s record ($5,597): about 21% below — a 50-gram necklace carries roughly $1,925 less gold value than at the peak.

Gold versus one year ago: up about $1,000 per ounce (~29%).

Silver: above $65, its highest in seven weeks.

September rate-rise odds: ~40%. Next fully priced rise: December.

Today and tomorrow: American producer price data lands this afternoon (Baghdad time) — a second inflation reading that could move prices either way. Friday brings American retail sales. Analysts’ year-end maps remain at $4,500 to $4,900.

For buyers today: Prices are at two-month highs but still well below January’s record, and the direction this month has been upward. Those with near occasions are advised not to delay; those who can wait may watch today’s data for any brief dip toward $4,360.
